Five-Minute Friday: Prepare

Updated: Jul 27, 2020

Most of us spend each-and-every moment of our lives in preparation. Projects for work. Lunches for little ones’ school day. Decorations and shopping for Christmas. We are constantly preparing for the next “big” event. Crossing off those “crucial” items on our revolving to-do lists. But, in the midst of our Earthly work, how often do we really take a minute to stop and think about preparations we are making for ourselves for the One who matters most?

And in looking for scripture to support my thoughts, I stumbled upon these beautiful words:

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” (~Peter 3:15)

Incredible. “Always be prepared.” That’s a life motto for many of us. We are ready for anything-and-everything imaginable here on this Earth. Work. Trips. Parties.

But, are we truly prepared for this? Or in our day-to-day tasks, have we lost sight of our answer? For the reason behind the hope, love and blessings we have in our life?

Advent is the absolute perfect time for this type of preparation. In our hearts. Our minds. Our souls. But, wow, what a difficult feat this is in the midst of our grand adventures in readiness for the holidays. To remind ourselves of our true purpose here on Earth. To serve him in each of our daily tasks. A perfect goal for anytime of year, but most especially in this season, encompassed with preparation.
