Five-Minute Friday: Be Still

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

There are times in each of our lives when God calls us to make a move. Bold. Or quiet. Outright. Or silent. To march forward. Or to take a step back. When we really feel a strong urgency to do something. Much of the time, our shifts have to do with decision-making. In regards to family. Career. Relocation. Faith. And we feel His presence. Urging us. Taking our hand. Leading us along our path.

But then there are those times. Those quiet moments in our lives. When we sit in the midst of uncertainty. Fear. Hesitation. Or doubt. And we truly cannot configure a next move.

Those are the times when our o.n.l.y. move is to be still. Because it’s moments like those, filled with reluctance and indecision when it’s actually not our move to make. When we feel God’s presence not moving us directionally, but yet instead, holding us closely, embracing us warmly and filling us with faith, in the exact spot we stand. Pushing the ambiguity aside. And whispering into our ear…

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (~Exodus 14: 13-14)

And before we know it, the way will be opened up to us…
